How to apply your Rhinestone Hot Fix Iron on Transfers
All blingworks Hot Fix Rhinestone iron on transfers come with these easy to read instructions. Please read the instructions carefully before applying your iron on motif.
What you need
1. Your rhinestone iron on transfer
2. An iron
3. Cover Cloth x 2 i.e. an ironing cloth (not a handkerchief)
4. Heat resistant board i.e. wooden chopping board (this gives a firm surface on which to press the iron on motif onto your garment). Not a padded ironing board.
Instructions
1. Turn on iron to an appropriate heat setting* for your garment. Important - Turn off steam setting and empty water from your iron.
2. Place the garment on work surface. Place the board and one of the cloths between the fabric on your garment. If you are ironing onto the front of a t-shirt, place between the front and back of the t-shirt. This stops glue transferring from the iron on transfer to the back of your shirt.
3. Remove the white backing paper from your iron on motif and place it sticky side down on garment.
4. Cover the iron on motif with your 2nd cover cloth.
5. With the iron, press down on the iron on motif for approx 15 seconds in each section (no more than 10 seconds at a time on delicate/dark fabrics). Do not move the iron backwards and forwards as this can move the crystals.
6. Turn your garment inside out, again placing the cover cloth between the front and back of the shirt. Place the 2nd cover cloth on top of the design and press in sections again.
7. Carefully turn garment right way out. Cover with cloth and press again. Allow to cool (to allow the glue to bond and set).
8. Once cool, slowly peel off the plastic mylar paper from your newly applied iron on motif. Your iron on crystal motif should now be transferred to your garment. If the iron on motif is still sticking to the plastic mylar paper, carefully place it back on the garment and repeat steps 4-8. **See note below
9. Cover the iron on transfer once more with the cover cloth and give it one final press.
You can now enjoy wearing your gorgeous Hot Fix Rhinestone Iron on Transfer!!!!
Please note
* To avoid heat marks on your fabric when ironing onto dark or coloured/delicate fabrics, make sure the iron is not too hot. If unsure, test a small hidden patch of fabric first.
** Some stones may take a little longer to adhere to your garment (particularly if there are different sized stones). Between ironing, use fingers to press on stones and hold them down for a little while, then iron again. (Be careful they aren’t too hot to touch). Note that holes in your iron are cold spots.
IMPORTANT Rhinestone Hot fix iron on transfers cannot be ironed onto materials such as leather, teflon, silicon, waterproof/coated fabric. Smooth/flat fabrics are best to use when applying iron on transfers. The use of heavily ribbed fabrics is not recommended as it can result in uneven application of your iron on transfer.
Care instructions for Rhinestone Hot Fix Iron on Transfers
1. Machine wash on a gentle cycle, inside out in a laundry bag, using a mild detergent.
2. Never iron directly onto the iron on transfer.
Your iron on transfer is a permanent accessory to your garment, however; should any stones become loose due to unforeseen wear and tear, turn your garment inside out and cover with a cloth and press with an iron (no steam) to re-activate the glue.
